Single PDF · we re-compress the JPEG images inside

Everyday uses

Common uses.

Fit a PDF doc under an upload size cap for forms, applications and email. The reduction is done by re-encoding the images inside the PDF while keeping every character of text crisp and selectable, so your file stays readable instead of turning into a blurry scan.

What makes it different

Built for real needs.

📝
Text stays selectable
We only re-encode the images inside your PDF. Every character of text stays crisp and copyable — most other tools flatten everything.
📊
Live "saved X %" readout
See how much smaller your PDF got, in real time — before you download.
📮
Fits form upload limits
Great for exam forms, job applications and portals capped at 1–2 MB.
🔒
100% in-browser
Your document never leaves your device — nothing uploaded anywhere.

Good to Know

Common questions.

Does this keep text selectable?

Yes. The smart compressor only re-encodes embedded photos. Text, fonts, links, vector graphics and the document outline are untouched — exactly as in your original.

Which quality level should I pick?

Medium is a safe default for most PDFs. Pick Light for PDFs where image detail matters (product catalogues, photo reports). Pick Strong when the goal is fitting the file under an email or upload limit.

Why didn't my PDF shrink much (or at all)?

Smart compression works on the embedded JPEG photos inside your PDF. If your PDF is mostly text and vector graphics, there are no photos to shrink — and your file is already efficient. We won't push a worse file back to you.

What about PNG-style or scanned images?

Currently the smart compressor handles JPEG images inside PDFs, which is the most common case. PNG-style image streams are detected and left untouched (they may be re-encoded in a future update).

Is anything uploaded?

No. Everything runs inside your browser using the open-source pdf-lib library. Your file never leaves your device.
