Reduce PDF size and shrink PDFs — a smart compressor built to decrease and minimize the document by re-encoding the embedded photos, while keeping every character of text crisp and selectable. Files stay on your device.
Verified — Tested with photo-heavy reports, scanned PDFs, and exports from Word / Google Docs.
Everyday uses
Fit a PDF doc under an upload size cap for forms, applications and email. The reduction is done by re-encoding the images inside the PDF while keeping every character of text crisp and selectable, so your file stays readable instead of turning into a blurry scan.
What makes it different
Good to Know
Yes. The smart compressor only re-encodes embedded photos. Text, fonts, links, vector graphics and the document outline are untouched — exactly as in your original.
Medium is a safe default for most PDFs. Pick Light for PDFs where image detail matters (product catalogues, photo reports). Pick Strong when the goal is fitting the file under an email or upload limit.
Smart compression works on the embedded JPEG photos inside your PDF. If your PDF is mostly text and vector graphics, there are no photos to shrink — and your file is already efficient. We won't push a worse file back to you.
Currently the smart compressor handles JPEG images inside PDFs, which is the most common case. PNG-style image streams are detected and left untouched (they may be re-encoded in a future update).
No. Everything runs inside your browser using the open-source pdf-lib library. Your file never leaves your device.
