Before you print — the harder mazes can genuinely stump a young child, so match the difficulty to your kid on the maker's age slider, and print the answer key if you'd like a solution to check against.

A maze in whatever shape they like

A plain square maze is fine, but a child will always reach for the star or the heart one first. That's the whole idea here — the same solid maze puzzle, drawn inside seven different outlines. Under the shape it's a real maze: one way in, one way out, and exactly one path that connects them, with plenty of dead ends to catch you out along the way.

Whichever shape you pick, you get a brand-new layout every time you print. There's no small set of mazes to memorise and run out of, so the same child can do a fresh maze every day.

As easy or as hard as your child needs

Difficulty is the thing most maze sites get wrong — they hand a four-year-old the same maze they'd give a ten-year-old. Here you set the age on a slider from 4 to 12. At the young end you get a simple maze with wide, open paths — easy enough for preschoolers and 4 or 5 year olds to trace with a finger. Nudge it up and the maze fills with more twists, tighter corridors and dead ends, until at the top it's a genuinely hard maze that'll keep an older child busy for a while.

An answer key, for when they get stuck

Every maze can print with a matching answer key — a second page that traces the full solution in gold. It saves you squinting at a printout trying to work out whether they actually finished it, and it's a small mercy on the harder puzzles. The key switches on by itself for the tougher mazes and can be toggled for the easy ones.

Why a maze is more than a time-filler

Working through a maze quietly builds the things that are hard to teach directly — planning a route ahead, spotting a dead end before you reach it, and the patience to back up and try again. It's a calm, screen-free thing to hand a child on a long afternoon or a car trip, and because each printable maze comes out on plain paper, a whole stack of them costs nothing but the ink.

Common questions

What maze shapes can I print?

Seven shapes: square, circle, triangle, heart, star, diamond and hexagon. Each one is a real maze with a single path from start to finish — the shape just changes the outline the maze fills.

Can I make the maze easier or harder?

Yes. On the worksheet maker there's an age slider from 4 to 12. Younger settings make a small, open maze; older settings pack in more twists and dead ends. Pick the age that matches your child and the maze adjusts.

Do the mazes come with an answer key?

Yes. You can switch on an answer key page, which prints the full solution path for every maze in gold. It turns on automatically for the harder mazes, and you can toggle it on or off for the easy ones.

Is it free to print?

Completely free — no sign-up, no watermark. Every time you generate you get a brand-new maze, so you can print off or save as a PDF as many as you like.
